SPACE Studies is happy to announce Dr. ir. Marianna Charitonidou as the keynote speaker for SPACE International Conference 2021 on Architectural History and Theory, which will take place on 19-20 November 2021 in London.
Dr. ir. Marianna Charitonidou is an architect, curator, educator and theorist and historian of architecture and urban planning. She is a Lecturer at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) of ETH Zürich and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Technical University of Athens. She is the curator of the exhibition entitled “The View from the Car: Autopia as a New Perceptual Regime” (https://viewfromcarexhibition.gta.arch.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich (5 March-15 October 2021). In September 2018, she was awarded a Doctoral Degree all’unanimità for her PhD dissertation “The Relationship be-tween Interpretation and Elaboration of Architectural Form: Investigating the Mutations of Architecture’s Scope”. She also holds an MPhil in History and Theory of Architecture from the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (2013), a Master in Science in Sustainable Environmental Design from the Architectural Association (2011), and a Master in Architectural Engineering at the Aristo-tle University of Thessaloniki (2010). She was a Visiting Research Scholar at Columbia University’s GSAPP (invited by Prof. Bernard Tschumi), the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University (invited by Prof. Jean-Louis Cohen), the École française de Rome (2016-2017 & 2017-2018), and the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA). She has presented her research at more than 65 international confer-ences and has published numerous articles and chapters in scientific peer-reviewed journals, and edit-ed volumes focused on history and theory of architecture and urban design. In 2021, she was awarded the Bruno Zevi Prize. She is the founder and principal at Think Through Design Architectural and Ur-ban Design Studio.
